Thanks again. I copied the entire article and emailed it to my service contact. I almost forgot about the spark plugs.

I was told, by the way, that the additional components will take quite a while to arrive...they are on back order. Lets see, ordered the car the third week in June, took delivery the end of the third week of Sept and the complete JCW kit installed by sometime February/March. I won't do this again. If BMW wants my my JCW money next time around, the kit will have to be installed at the factory.

This is one of my fantasies - not so much for the hp but for the sound! But the price is extremely off-putting! Did you get a deal somehow?

If you want the sound go with the Alta intake. Unless your looking for the warrenty end of it?

Less expensive with the sound would be the Hot air intake.

There apparently should be a dope test for all mini service department managers. Because the folks you have been dealing with are smoking something.

It's a crying shame that a lump headed dealer service department can ruin the experience of a person spending a considerable amount of money with them. My experiences with the service department here at Rassmussen MINI in Portland, have been exemplary. They know their sh*t.

Those running the shop have extensive racing knowledge and experience, and a depth of understanding of the BMW's and MINI's and what the options and possibilities are.

Your 05 Works kit should feel like night and day from a stock MCS. I'm flabbergasted that they didn't even reprogram the ECU.... Duh.

The thing about the new JCW intake that appeals to me is the vacuum controlled cowl vent. I gather that it basically sounds the same as a stock MCS most of the time, that it only gets L-O-U-D when your foot's on it and you go above 4500 rpm. Then you can hear great gulping noises and the screamin' supercharger!

I read the entire HAI thread and figure sooner or later I'm going to play around with this. (And the zip tie mod - ) But when I'm in really heavy traffic and can't have any fun, I still want to be able to listen to my MP3 discs. I don't want the car to be loud all the time!

JCWdriver,

What are the visible differences between the stock S head and supercharger? I never thought I would have to look beforehand. I'm feeling a little foolish now.

Just trying to keep the info linked together for future searchers. Unfortunately, if there's one thing we know about MINIUSA, it's that they'll continue to try to screw people.
