Is it only my car or does every r53 do this? I need to be about 25 feet or less from the car for it to work once in that range it works perfect but goes no farther. I have two remote key and both are like this. Not really an issue just curious if it's normal or something I need to fix.

 

I thinks it's normal. I'm just glad my remote still works on my '03!

 

Mine works the same as yours. The first click to unlock will unlock the drivers side, then the second click to unlock the pax side must be done about a foot away from the car to get it to work.

there a a couple of sources to get the battery replaced in the key (not replaceable w/out opening the key and doing some solder work) ... this MIGHT help ..... key may not be getting a strong enuf charge anymore

but IMO 25 feet ain't bad . . . .

 

True its plenty of range I"ve just been spoiled by good range before, I may install sn aftermarket remote system.
