R55 internal temperature sensor

Hi, Anyone know where the Interior temp sensor is located on a Mini Cooper SD 2011? My air con is not cooling and after checking the gas is ok i plugged a diagnostic tool and the "interior temp sensor ( measured in the control box )" is reading a constant -40degrees which i presume will prevent the car from trying to cool it.
All the other temp sensors are reading Ok at around 21 degrees as it is a very warm today.

Thanks in advance

The heater temp sensor is buried deep into the dash board:

Thanks for the answer. But this one is heater sensor. I am looking for passenger compartment temperature sensor.

I would suspect that sensor controls the temp in the cabin, whether it be to cool or heat.

Correct, according to this functional description of IHKA (integrated automatic heating / air conditioning system):

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/r...ressor/XQ4fi4h

Quote from there:
"Internal temperature sensor
The internal temperature sensor is built into the IHKA control unit. The internal temperature sensor measures the temperature in the control unit. This measured temperature is used by an integrated mathematical model to calculate the value for the interior temperature.
The internal temperature sensor is not force-ventilated. This means that no internal temperature sensor fan is fitted in the IHKA control unit."

The functional description of the manual air conditioning system (IHKS - Integrated heating/air conditioning control) does not contain any references to a cabin temperature sensor.

@paolomini:
Is your car equipped with automatic or with manual air conditioning?

I'm not sure if this helps, but on my early R53 I have a round plug in the top center of the dashboard & an oval grill in the roof just before the clock. For some reason, I've understood these to be covers for 'sunlight' & temperature sensors. Since my car has no options, there's nothing behind either one!

Hi guys
My mini is equipped with automatic control air condition. This is the situation on IHKA ECU scan by ISTA this morning all the sensor are working.Somehow I was able to switch-on airco compressor and evaporator sensor show me 5.7 degrees. After turn-off / turn-on the cairco compressor stop working again. No one fault code appear.

thanks in advance for help
