R56 N14 Manifold question

On all the N14's I've come across it connects to nothing. If you remove the manifold and look into it, it is completely blocked. It doesn't do anything.

also keep in mind this engine is shared with another car manufacturer. So on their platform, they might be using this port for something that isn't required in the USA.
