Battery - is 78% charge good enough?

Hey everyone! I've got a quick question. I just had my battery tested at Advanced Auto and everything passed. He said everything was good, but mentioned that the battery said it only had 78% charge. I saw it listed on the tool, as well as the "good" notation next to it.

I'm learning that low batteries can cause a lot of problems since cars these days rely so much on computers and so on. Is 78% charge really good enough or should I replace it?

Thanks!

Brian

How old is your battery? If more than 4 years old, replace it.

Mine has same issue, a weak cell. The store's tester indicated 'low charge' but my charger won't bring it up any further.

It’s only 2 years old. Kind of makes me want to replace it. I’m also a bit nervous about replacing it seeing how it might be IBS and need to be programmed to the car. I just learned about that last night and need to research further.

The AGM battery in my 2010 LCI Mini is more than 9 years old (still the factory one) with no issues whatsoever.

The regular batteries in our now gone Toyota pick-up truck died no sooner than when 6 years old (in one case even 8 years).

2 years seems very short, unless it was extremely bad maintained.
