Normaly quite after changing the timing chain tensioner my car was making this gauhd awful tapping noise on my way to work. So I pulled over one mile from my home to see my dipstick says I’m very low (below the min) on oil. So I baby the car up to Quick Trip and dump some 5w-30 into the engine. The ticking didn’t go away and still hasn’t now that I just checked.

It is 40 degrees outside the car had to warm up a little to bring the ticking back.

fir whatever reason I cannot upload the video. The oil is dark black. Imma drive it the 20 miles home and replace the oil.

 

Idk why it gets worse with warm oil. I guess cause the oil is burnt therefore thinner and the pump is having a hard time getting it to the lashers.

Maybe check the tensioner cap to make sure it's still tight?
