Vac leak driver's side??
Vac leak driver's side??
2010 Cooper Base with manual trans (non Turbo)
My kid burnt up his clutch in the snow last week. One clutch, plate, trip to the machine shop and it is back together.
Now when I start it, it runs good for 10 to 13 seconds, then it starts missing till it dies. If I give it gas it will run but you can tell it not right. Check engine codes: P115C,P0300,P0301,P0302,P0303,P0304.
Grab a can of carb cleaner and started spraying. When I spray the drivers side, below the wire stack for the cam sensors, it the engine will idle and sounds right. About the time the carb cleaner fades it goes back to running like crap.
I've looked all over but can not see any place it would have a vacuum leak.
There was oil all over it when I started and cleaned with engine cleaner, no pressure washer. Thought it was a rear engine seal due to when I split the trans from the engine oil poured out. There is some type of round part on the front driver's side with a vacuum line going to the firewall but that that hose is not leaking.

The round thing you mention is the camshaft driven vacuum pump. The line runs to the brake master cylinder. The pump is a common source for an oil leak. It will run down a wire harness and pool on top of the transmission. There is an aftermarket "rebuild" kit available on Amazon for about $30. I'm not sure if this would add to your misfire condition but it definitely could be the source of the oil leak.
Been sick for the last 5 days. Crap in my lungs. So the Mini is on the road and I'll closed this as fixed.
It was two problems. Under the intake there is differential pressure switch that I bumped. When I moved it back it ran but kept kicking the codes. When I change the Crank Sensor the codes reset heck engine light reset and the boy has been driven for a week.
When I ohm the 1 to 2 was open. The oil leak is the Vac pump. I am still looking for the seal kit for non turbo 2010 mini. (could use some help here)
Other notes to help the next guy:
New Crack Sensor
1 to 2 3.5 ohms
2 to 3 6.3 ohms
3 to 1 16.0 ohms

If the Vacuum pump is older and leaking you can get a new one here, most people just replace them as they knock the nipple off or the internals are worn form oil crud build up. You can get the OEM Pierburg one here. Its the same exact one just no MINI logo.
