Water inside the main cabin

2013 JCW hardtop. 3 questions:

Q1 My Mini was parked, outdoors, for 4 weeks last May (in Texas) while I traveled. I left the window open about 1/2 inch so the air inside would stay fresh. When i returned there was about 3/4 of an inch of water pooled on the carpet in front of the rear seats and mold had started forming on the seats and other surfaces in the car. It was a rainy May but I could not explain how that much water could get inside. I assumed a driving rain. Someone suggested that rain falling on the area in front where the windshield wipers rest can find its way into the car if that area gets clogged up with leaves and debris. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Q2 I am surprised that there isn't a way for water to drain from inside the car. What happens if someone spills a gallon of water or if the windows are wide open during a downpour? I just had the carpet removed this week and the pad beneath it was still soaking wet, now 5 months later and spending many days in the hot Texas sun.

Q3 Since this happened my radio will not turn off and I can't select FM. I can adjust volume and tune am stations. Anyone experience this?

Thanks for any comments.
