Code 2065 + occasional "skips" under acceleration

2008 Clubman S with 93K on her. Have had the occasional miss or skip on acceleration, seems especially noticeable in 3rd or 4th. I've replaced all 4 plugs, and all 4 coils, they were due anyway, but this did not help. A few weeks ago, I got a Code 2065 on my P3 gauge. (love that thing) No CEL ever, though.

The code seems related to a fuel level sensor, but I have seen some posts that said it could be connected to to the HPFP. Of course, it is possible that the code and the skips are unrelated. I'm curious what the group-think here is. Is the HPFP issue always going to have the hard-to-start symptom? Cause i don't have that at all, she fires right up every time. Idle is not rock-steady, has about a 50 rpm wobble to it.
  • New OEM plugs
  • New coils
  • New air filter
  • all other maintenance 100% up to date
  • No other codes

mmmm..how about your timing chain?

sometimes the wrong spark plugs can effect the performance. not sure if this the case....Also, did you check the valve for carbon build-up?

Timing chain was done at 65k

soark plugs are correct ones, NGKs purchased at the MINI dealer

haven't had the carbon build up checked or cleaned. Probably need to do that.

Seems like none of those would cause the code 2065, though.

Bumping this up.

I cleared the 2065 code, it came back about 5 days later. It is not triggering a CEL. but my P3 gauge shows all codes, not just active ones.

I can't seem to find a correlation with fuel level, driving circumstances, etc. If it truly is just a tank level sensor (which is what the code actually says in every reference I have found), I don't see how that can be causing the pause in acceleration. But I have seen posts that have inferred this code is somehow connected to a possible pending HPFP failure.

Any one have any insights?
