Can someone teach me how to search on a forum? Whenever I search nothing even close comes up as far as what I searched for ... end of rant.

I have 2013 R56 and I have a rattle (weird)... I thought it was in my dash but this morning pin pointed it to my mirror. There is a washer/locking ring looking item right behind where the mirror attached to the ball. It is doing nothing but loosely floating around and rattle whenever I go over bumps. I have found instruction as to how to take the mirror down, but I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue and/or how they fixed the washer? I am not sure if its pressure set or what?

that's the retaining clip for the ball. It takes a fair bit of pressure to seat it so no idea how it came out unless previous owner tampered with it. Had mine out when I added door remote.

 

So that answers my question, I just need to figure out how to push it back in. Did you just do it by hand?

 

I have the same problem
I can feel the loose retaining clip behind the mirror.
What is the process to put it back in?
