potental battery problem

So i just was dropping my daughter off at school and ran into a battery issue...We were waiting for the bus and so i had the car off but the radio on for like 20 min...well when i went to leave the car would not start...so are you not suppose to listen to the radio? If i have a weak battery no biggy i will just change it but i want to make sure it is not just how these cars are....what ya all think?

Sounds like a weak battery to me. How old is the battery?
Maybe take car to Autozone and make sure the alternator is charging first

I have 3rd Gen and can sit and listen to radio for hours without issue. You don't say how old battery is but jglover is telling you the story.

The MINI battery is really wimpy. When my MINI was brand new, I washed and waxed it, listening to the radio the whole time. It only took me about half an hour, when I tried to start the car it wouldn't turn over, the dash lights and everything else worked alright. I put a battery charger on it for a little while and it started OK.

I brought it to the dealer and everything checked out, battery was good and it was charging correctly. The same battery is now nine years old and it still works just fine, I just never never put a load on it without starting the car first. I also listen to a small portable radio whenever I wash and wax the car.
