2006 R53 automatic trans is shifting erratically on up shifts and down. cold or hot makes no difference. Hard down shifts from time to time like is skips a gear. Using the paddle shifters makes no difference. 140,000 miles. Any thoughts

 

Coming back for an update here. I’m finally ready to close this deal on the grey one I found. I’m supposed to get it inspected and picked up in a couple of weeks to drive it back 6 hrs. Excited to be an r53 owner again. I love that it is a 1 owner (collector/enthusiast), super low mileage example with most of the aftermarket mods I’d put on anyways (except Bluetooth). From what I can see it’s been sitting for 2 yrs and I don’t have a detailed service history so all fluids/filters will get changed.

I keep looking trying to make sure I’m not being penny wise pound foolish. There are some slightly higher mileage examples around me that are asking a bit more but completely sorted. One is a JCW sidewalk with a complete aero kit and 90k km for ~$17k. It’s local to me and was maintained by a garage I trust.

The other alternative is a ground up build. I was offered a lowerish mileage chassis that will get completely redone to my specs but I’ll have to put in about $20k all said and done.

Im irrationally scared of mileage, like it’s some sort of ticking time bomb. Also aware that $4k difference in price is like one big repair.
