Xenon Headlight Wiring gone bad

Picked up a pair of Facelift xenon headlights from Ebay for about $350 shipped.

Came in and looked to be in good shape. Thought I had a steal.

Plugged them in and noticed one smoking and the other non-functioning.

Took the backs off them both and found the wiring to be in rough shape. Crumbing wires. exposed wires, burnt wires, ect.

Seller is non-responsive and had to file a claim with ebay.

Hopefully get my money back these.

Guess it would be wise if anyone is looking for headlights to request pictures of the internals so this doesnt happen to anyone else.

Honestly, looks like these things got way too hot at one point.

Pretty sure the only way to save these would be a re-wire. Which would take a lot of time and effort.

already did waiting for eBay to decide.

Even if they don’t it was paid through eBay using my credit card so I can get it back. Amex is pretty good about that

Seller was: canamaqman75

He is saying they were damaged in shipping. Which is BS. The wiring looks fried and the exposed wires even have a patina over them. So it shows its been a long while since this happened.

If Ebay doesnt help me I will contact my credit card company.

I had something very similar happen to me with just regular halogen headlights. I had a main beam go dim on me, I didn't realize it was out until the police pulled me over. I got home, and when I opened it up, I saw the same thing, wires were corroded and sheathing crumbling off. The socket for the light itself was only seeing 3 volts when the switch was on. I was short on funds at the time so I just bought another set of aftermarket halogens off ebay so that I could get the car back on the road without fear of the cops pulling me over again.

I'd open a dispute with your CC company. You can always drop the dispute and not loose any options, but if you wait too long that 2nd option will not be available.

Yes, that's internal. and looks like they might have put 100w bulbs in there or something weird that overloaded the wire. Might have been from a wrecked car with a short or something.
