Odd headlight issue....

Hi all-

I just took ownership of a 2009 MCS this past Sunday. So far I love the car. I'm having an odd issue with the driver's side headlight though, and my preliminary search here didn't turn up anything that was exactly like what is going on with mine.

Halogen lights. Both hi and lo beams are out. However, when I go into the housing and turn the bulb to the left to take it out, it lights up. When I turn it back to the right to secure the bulb, it stays lit. I drive along my merry way. Get to my destination, and it is still on - so bumps in the road do not seem to be jarring it loose mid-transit. Then, when I start the car up next time, I get the warning indicator that both hi and lo beams are out. And sure enough they are....and I loosen the bulb, and same thing. Lights up, etc.

Anyone deal with this before? I'd like to be able to go places in the dark without having to pop the hood before each trip. Haha.

Thanks

Try swapping bulbs from side to side to see if it follows. If issue changes sides, get new bulbs. If issue stays on the same side, then its something deeper.

On my 2010 the driver's side low beam goes out occasionally. Disconnecting the main plug on the headlight housing (and reconnecting) seems to solve the problem for another 6 months.
