AC compressor FUBAR
AC compressor FUBAR
So ... my AC on my 2004 R53 stopped working suddenly so I tested the relays, etc. and determined that the AC coil was bad. Jumped out to the Interweb and ordered a new one. Started removing the Torx screw holding the old coil assembly and the head broke off about a quarter inch in. Bought a screw extractor, drilled the screw stump and promptly broke the tip of the extractor off in the screw hole. This screw really does not want to come off! I don't want to incur the cost of replacing the compressor/dryer, recharge, etc. I'm contemplating a helicoil but I'm afraid the imbedded, hardened screw extractor will not be able to be drilled/removed. Has anyone run into this problem? If so, does anyone have a brilliant solution? All recommendations are appreciated.
Coming off triple hernia surgery (Ouch!) so changing the compressor may need to wait until the Spring. I ended up grinding the rivets off the coil to remove it. Does WMW sell a shorter serpentine belt that bypasses the compressor (coil/pulley is removed and I'll be running a 15% SC pulley), or can I run it that way? Thanks.
Actually we offer a delete pulley as this way you can run the normal belt and it keeps the belt cooler since it's longer and tension is correct as it routes the same as stock with a compressor.
