Provided that it is not attached to anything else you have to gently pry them off sometimes. But be sure you have disconnected everything.

Here is a link to https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...eplacement.htm removal instructions. Probably faster for you to look through this than to go through several replies to find out what you have done so far.

Might also help to ask question in the correct (R56?) forum for your 2010 MINI...
This is the 1st-Gen R50/R52/R53 forum (2002-2008).

It was the one showed in the image not easy to get but with some perseverance i got it from the rear using an extension.
i took some pictures but it seems like the gaskets needed to be changed.
actually the engine overheated and I bought it to a mechanic who told me that the engine was probably dead and proposed to buy the car. I refused and asked him to change the defective parts ,he changed the water pump and pipe coolant but didn’t changed the thermostat housing and obviously the car was overheating after 10 min of use .I took the car home and done some research on internet and figured out that I need the check the thermostat housing (it melted).
He didn’t done the pressure test to check if the head gasket was ok or not so I will put the new thermostat housing change the valve cover and see if I will have a good pressure test.
