How to inspect / refill torque converter off car

I could not locate any post's on this, so I decided to ask the question. I am about to put in a low mileage used automatic transmission in a 2007, and wanted to know first off, do I use the converter that came with the used transmission? If so, is there any inspections I can do to ensure it is working properly? How do I flush this while off the car?

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciative.

Put a used automatic in my mini and used the converter that cam with it. The old on may have debris in it. I never drain it sense there is no dip stick. Put the amount of oil that came out, back in. Ran it for a little bit and then rechecked oil. Then sent to a mechanic and had him recheck the oil when it was on a lift, running. Flush is a matter of drain and refill. What you take out is what you put back in.

Thanks for the advise on the Fluid. Did you have to "reset" the Computer to re-learn the new transmission? I have been reading a few posts on this.
