6-sp transmission oil - question

My 2004 MCS has 156K on it. Many years ago I changed to Redline MTL. No complaints. Recently I had to replace both axles for leaking CV boots, and the passenger side now leaks at the seal. How does one remove the old seal? Any precautions in installing the new one? While researching this issue, I found that one commentator on this forum has written that every time you remove an axle from the transmission you must change the oil. True? If so, why? I simply planned to have some MTL on hand to top-up what is already there. Thanks.

If you use aftermarket axles, the seal surface can be different. It is always good to change seals.

We just use a standard seal tool, but not common for them to fail. So I'd be concerned that your new axle isn't right or something.

Seals if you need

Way: What do you mean by 'standard seal tool?' And any special precautions when installing the new one?

Just a generic seal driver kit from snap on or matco they have several size rings you can tap it in.
