2008 Mini Cooper won’t start, new battery

Put new battery in. Won’t turn over. Lights come on. Doesn’t click or anything. Then after 5 tries it starts. Turn off. It starts for a few times then it won’t start again. What’s going on

If starting is intermittent with a new battery (and the battery has been tested to provide a normal 12-13 volts), I would put money on a faulty ignition switch. Why was the battery replaced initially?

Could have a bad starter to begin with, and you probably thought it's time for a new battery. I've done that many times in my experience.

Went through this a while back... after replacing battery and starter and three tow truck rides... turned out to be a bad main ground... new ground wire and cleaned attachment points... no more issues.
