Let me get straight to the point.
My 05 MCS with 140k miles starting running poorly not too long ago and I suspected a bad spark plug or dieing coil.
It kept throwing the P Code for bad coil, even after replacing it. After fooling with it off & on for a couple days and asking everyone that I knew, I returned to the Ignition Coil Connector and stripped the conduit back further.
Behold, the wires inside of the conuit were chafing and shorting out.
I should have looked closer the first time I inspected the connector and wires.
I replaced the connector and it runs like new.
I hope this help someone else figure out whats wrong with their car at some point.
I know this is a couple of years later, but what made you decide to peel back the conduit to check the wires? Was there any visible sign of damage to the conduit?
I'm asking as I have an ignition problem on my R53; I just replaced the coil pack and have not fixed my problem (2 cylinders not firing).
Your post has given me a new avenue to explore, thank you!
