HPFP Replaced for free!
HPFP Replaced for free!
02/2012 Cooper S with 62k miles. Rough running and soot on startup. Shut it off, start again (sometimes more than once) and it seems to run fine. Check engine light showed the P15DF code. Went to the dealer on Saturday to buy a new one (list was $314 but he asked if I was doing it myself and knocked it down to $285?). The other parts guy said it may be covered under warranty. They looked it up and sure enough covered for 10 years/120k miles.
Dropped it off this morning and got the call an hour or so ago to let me know it was the HPFP and would be replaced under warranty. Plus, turns out my waterpump was leaking and it's covered under an extended warranty, too. I have to pay for a new water pump pulley and belt as mine are cracked ($160), but I'm not complaining as it's still cheaper than the pump if I'd done it myself.
So, for those of you with fuel pump problems (provided that really is the issue, they have to confirm), MINI now has a 10 year/120k mile warranty on it.
I'll look at the work order and/or ask for the code and update the thread for anyone else having issues.

Our 2012 MCS has about 60k miles as well. Got both letters extending the warranty on water pump and HPFP. They changed out the water pump at the last oil change. Am thinking the HPFP is next to go. Occasionally the car will die after starting. No codes, but I suspect it's on the way.
I have a 2011 mcs. My hpfp went out a year ago. Called the dealer and they said it wasnt covered under any warranty. So I replaced it myself along with my leaky water pump. A year later I was just informed by the dealer while in for another issue that they were covered. So now I'm going to contact miniusa and see if they will refund me for the parts.
