Stupid belt keeps making noise. Replaced belt, belt tensioner, and the idler pulley that runs the water pump. Have not replaced water pump wheel. I am beginning to believe that its the alternator thats making the noise. Sense its a belt squeal and the noise goes away after it warms up, can I change just the pulley or change whole alternator?

 

run the car without the belt to narrow down the culprits. if noise is gone and knowing the pulleys are new, then you're left with alternator and AC compressor. you could try with AC on to see if the noise changes or what not.
