06 MCS connected the battery post bacwards ...CAR IS DEAD
First thank you to those who take the time to read this post. I put in a new batt and the poles on the new batt were reversed. And like a rookie I connected them to my car in reverse in the dark. I connected the positive terminal and then barley touched the neg cable to its post when the horn started to blow so i immediately without hesitation removed it. I did this once again and the same exact action and reaction. I decided i had bought the wrong battery and went to put my POS old battery back in. Only when i did the car is completely absolutely without a doubt dead. I had a mini machanic come out to my car and he reconized what i did and a told me i may have fried the cpu or a coil or a fuse ect but he wasnt sure. He did tell me to put the new battery back in correctly this time and give it a shot. So i did the next morning and it started! I drove 2 blocks with the power steering not working now, pulled into chevron and the car died when i came to a stop. Completely dead... no power. The weird part is my dad took both batterys old n new and charged them at his house for me just to see what was up. The old will not even regester when i connect it anymore. But thats not a suprise since it was completely junk by now. But thw new battery started the car again but within a matter of 2 min in the parking lot the car died again. No poeqr at all. I also tried to have a guy with a lifted truck try to jump my mini and as he was connected and gasing his truck to create energy for my car to start i noticed a small amount of smoke coming from my engine (rightside of the engine near serpintine belt AREA) and a the burning smell of plastic and my best guess electrical wires, but it had a distinct smell to it. The fuses seem to be in order and i cant see any visible damage to the battery cables. Nothing obvious is causing the apparent problem. Im confused and my mini machanic who always has had the corrwct answer for me also seems to be scratching his head at the moment. Please if you have had the unfortunate luck of having to endure this situation or have expert advice i would be very glad to listen. Thank you all and drive well.
You probably melted some wires and now have a short somewhere. Since your power steering no longer works, I’d start there. Going to be a pretty expensive fix to check out all the wiring in the car and replace melted wires.
Would think the link at the battery would go and that the reverse voltage could have blown out the voltage regulator. There are fuses below the main engine fuse box. You need to remove the ECU so that you can flip the fuse box over to access.
