Valve seals or full head job?

Well I'm pretty sure I have a bad valve seal. Typical smoking issue while at idle. My first thought was to just do valve seals and blast the valves. After thinking I wonder if I should just remove have it hot tanked, maybe port and polish thehead and the have new seals and guides out in. What do you guys think would be best? There is 76k miles on the car it's a 2011 MCS.

I would pull the head and have the guides checked. Then if you have the coin, go full build.

I haven't looked into a full build yet. What kinda price range would I be looking at? Any guess?

Not a full build but just to fix a burned valve, minimum R&R probably 2.5K-3K to do it right if you do it yourself. I think that's about what I spent. Unfortunately after I got it running well I realized I needed rings..... So if you are using a lot of oil do the rings as well. Hope all goes smooth for you.

Well now I'm wondering if my issue is not valve seals and is my turbo. When I installed my Down pipe 1.5 months ago I didnt notice any oil on the hot side. I noticed oil in the charge pipes so I installed a catch can. Even after a month with the can on I was still getting oil in my charge pipes. I thought maybe the catch can wasn't really working. I pulled the intake off the turbo today and that was dry, no oil. So the can seems 5o be working. I grabbed the turbo shaft and I can get 1 to 1.5mm of play in the shaft and I can hear a little tapping sound everytime it moves. So I'm thinking some of not all of my smoking issue is from the turbo.

haha honestly that never even crossed my mind as potentially becoming a joke. I guess I should have thought that one through a little bit more. I received a letter in the mail from MINI USA a few months ago stating that the turbocharger would have an extended warranty of 10 years a hundred thousand miles I think is what it said. Summer call the dealership and see about getting it looked at or getting a new one. My fear is I'm going to go in there going to look at it and tell me it's fine and then charge me a service fee.
