2007 Mini Cooper s r56 n14 rough idling won’t accelerate past 4K rpm
R56 Mini when I start it up it idles very rough and engine shakes sounds kinda like a small truck when I try to drive it has a hard time starting off need to rev up to 3k before releasing clutch soon as the car accelerated up to 4K rpm it has hard time going faster connected OBD had code for misfire so I switched plugs and coils still nothing changed I put in new diverter valve no change new hpfp no changes
you should NOT drive it like that because you will end up spending more money on it. did the misfire move or remained on the same cyls?
N14 are known for timing chain issues...so, remove the valve cover and take a look. if all seems fine, do a compression test.
where are you located?

Did you ever figure out what your problem was? Mine started doing this same exact thing about a year ago. I don't have the money to throw parts at it so I haven't really messed with it too much. It started on my way home from work one day and progressively got worse. No codes come up except for an ambient air temperature code and P110F which I think also has to do with the sensor. at first it would idle somewhat, but when I tried swapping coil packs to see which cylinder the misfire was on it got much worse and wouldn't go back to the way it was. I can start it now, but I have to keep my foot partly in the gas. Too much or too little it dies. I have no catalytic converters so that's not it, and I'm getting fuel in the cylinders.
