Powerflex front lower control bushings installed with Teflon

I had my mechanic install The powerflex bushings however we wrapped the outer surface of the inner bushing with Teflon tape - we also coated it with the supplied grease - hopefully no squeaks in a few months.

My plan was to to get Superpro bushings which are the best and don’t squeak - I ordered a set and then was advised they were backordered and would have to wait a few weeks so I settled for the powerflex with Teflon wrap.

What an improvement - the passenger lower control busing was gone. You could kick the wheel and see it jiggle. On bumps it would clunk loudly and at speed felt like you could lose control.

The car feels rock solid now!

I just used a 6” bolt with heavy fender washers - easy install.

Some more pictures.

I had SEM do the work ( in the greater Toronto area). This was the first time doing this on a mini and they did it so fast. Under 2 hours. Likely would have been done in an hour of it wasn’t for other customer interruptions.
