2007 Cooper Passenger Occupancy Sensor
2007 Cooper Passenger Occupancy Sensor
So a few weeks ago the airbag light and seatbelt lights came on in my 2007 mini cooper hardtop. The dealership diagnosed a bad passenger seat occupancy sensor. They said they would happily replace it... for $900.
My first question is if it is safe to drive with these lights on? (Does it disable all airbags or enable all airbags?)
My second question is if there is a way to fix this myself.(preferably without a bypass) I have done most of my own car maintenance, have all the necessary tools and am pretty good mechanical stuff.

The sensor is very hard to change and very expensive. here is a link; https://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/639...t-65776930683/
You do not need a "dealer" to reset it. Any mechanic with a snap-on tool can re-set the airbag light. A bunch of other brands make an OBII reader than can re-set the airbag lights.
Then again there is always the $30 hack from ebay... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Airbag-pass...torefresh=true
Good luck.
