Occupancy Sensor Mat R53 06/06

I have read all of the issues other people have had and the warranty thing (10 year 150k miles), my car doesn't qualify. They said it isn't the wiring harness that was faulty. I think someone just put their knee into the passenger seat to ruin it. =/ I am getting sick of the SRS light and would also like to guarantee the safety of my passenger in case of an accident. I have read about the resistor/diode thing to fool the system into thinking I have a passenger regardless. I have been looking all over at import junkyards, websites, and even craigslist trying to find a matching seat bottom replacement for my r53 06/06. I do own the SRS reset tool to reset it once I get whatever fix in place. I have two questions.

1. Are the occupancy sensor mats easy to remove from seat bottoms? I have the tan leather seats and they are 1100 brand new via realoem.com or 1600 for the whole seat via the stealership. If I bought the cheaper seat bottoms for some other color would the sensor be removable and be able to be swapped with the one in my seat?

2. If I did the resistor diode mod could someone tell me without a doubt that the airbag would deploy in the case of an accident. I would also like to be able to tell the passenger that it will deploy.

Also, one of the craigslist posts I found was here http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...802545298.html 50$ and that has the mat in it, but is just for older mini's if someone else was interested.

Thank you

Can someone at least tell me which plug I need to put the diode/resistor in?

Diode/resistor won't work for the 05-06 seat mat. A microcomputer in the mat measures the weight on the seat and sends digital data to the main computer through the plug. There might be someplace in the mat itself where you can put a resistor on the actual sensor, but I haven't heard of anybody who has figured it out.

Your other option is to disable the warning in the computer: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t-no-more.html
