Hi A383,
I am thinking that is a distinct posibility myself. I am going to take the injectors back off and try and clean each of them and try again.
Thanks

Vic

You wont be able to clean them yourself.....if there is stuff in the injector, it's inside where you cannot get to it.....

I'm not saying that is your problem, it's just a possibility

Hello All again,
Been a bit under the weather so haven't done much to resolve my ssues. Have eliminated the fuel pressue issue. Starts right up, will not idel and dies at anything lower the 2000RPM. Code is still random misfire and P01159 which I really don't undertsand as there is no deaccelertion I don't thi when just sitting and trying to keep it running. Any thoughts on MAF sensor possibly being ba dirty?
Thanks

Vic

OK Now really weird stuff. Been away for awhile and got back and started working on the car again. Still misfire on #4. Had a guy come over, pulled plugs. Zero on #4 ,around 100 on other 3. Not Good !. Then he calls me and says the piston is not moving in Cyl #1 !!. Engine starts, no knocking, just no power. How can this be? He has no clue and said he has never seen a situation like this. Any ideas??

Oh, man! If what he said is true - the piston is #1 is not moving, and you ask if anyone has any idea?

Most of us have a very good idea of what the problems are, but not so much you.

You should read up on the ABCs of how a 4-stroke ICE work.

thank you for nothing sir.
I have been working on engines for probably longer then u have been alive and gave never seen anything like this.
I am going over to the shop where the car is and see for myself as unless rid is totally missing, there has to be movement of the piston. Engine did not shake in the least when running. Just zero power.

I am always happy to help. If you have been working on engines that long, your posts sure give nothing away.

IF the piston in #1 cylinder is not moving, either the top of the piston broke off the body, or the connecting rod broke, or the piston broke off at the connecting rod.....

If there is no noise, I bet the top of the piston separated from the body of the piston.......in any case, a rebuild is in order......but this issue now would not be the cause of your fuel pressure problem......

Sounds like your days are going like mine.....I picked up a '06 R52 MCS JCW about a month ago.....I finally got the engine to run, but now it's just one issue after another with this car......I've named it "The Mini from Hell)

Curious as to what you find out with your piston problem, keep us informed

Bryan

Brian,
We also thot the same but have not as yet tested that theory. seems more then likely however as no internal engine noises at all from broken rod. The vehicle did sit for a lengthy period of time and with 251000 miles, good chance the rings rusted to cylinder wall and broke off the top above the wrist pin. I'll post my findings.
In the mean time if anyone might be interested in purchasing a disabled 2002 R50 Mini with good interior, new fuel pump and filters and seemingly everything else in working order, feel free to make an offer. Just have to many "projects" on the burner at the moment. Injection sustem, Ac unit, trans ( auto) all seem to be functioning. Nearly new tires, etc.
All offers considered.
I am in Central CA.
Thanks
