DSC, ABS, Flat Tyre Lights on HELP

My DSC was starting ot act funny... it was turning on while going down a flat straight road... no need fo rit to do so.. so i turned it off.

The next day the DSC, ABS and Flat Tyre Lights all came on and now i dont htink that the ABS is functioning, and the DSC does not appear to be working either....

To check ABS, nail the brakes and see if you can lock up the tires. No? Yes? Check your fuses. Fuses OK. Call a dealer.

If my memory is correct, the DSC control unit is a computer which controls the DSC, ABS, and flat tire sensor. So all the lights on would seem to indicate that the control unit went kaput. Best case is something like a loose electrical connection or blown fuse. Worst case is a new DSC control unit which would be mucho $$$$.

warning lights

I saw on another thread that this will happen if the steering wheel position indicator goes bad, or the wire to one of the sensors gets grounded by wearing through the insulation. Sorry I don't recall where I saw it.

another reason this will go off is if a tire sensor goes bad...it's an easy fix...but I think it's a $90 part...I have had this happen to me...but I am under warrenty...

from what I was told...if the DSC turns it's self off that means its the tire sensor....

You really need to call the service Dept. They may have a simple fix, maybe not. You won't know unless you call. The worst case is they cannot help you. Anything else is an improvement. Over the many years I have had cars, I have found most service people are helpfull. I phone call is $0. Or you can listen to all the opinionsyou car get from people like me and your car is still fouled up. You choose.

The light (clearly) indicate a failure in the system. DSC, ABS, and Tire Inflation are all part of the ABS module. The DSC light turns on if a fault related to stability sensors/inputs fails, like steering angle, engine failures, yaw rate sensor. The Tire will turn on anytime it cannot determine tire inflation which is done by looking at wheelspeed sensors. ABS will turn on if wheelspeed sensors fail. If the Red Brake warning also comes on this means EBD is no longer functional which is most likely ABS unit internal failures or simply a fuse to the ABS unit.

if the red brake warning light is not on, you most likely have a wheel speed sensor issue. They are the the most common reason for ABS light turning on. Look for a disconnected/pinched cable to each wheel speed sensor. you may have to drive in order for the light to go off after fixing it (depends on the type of failure).

Just a heads up i had the very same problem. Most likey jsut a wheel speed sensor. As long as your not hot rodding around you shoud have no problem. Just call up your dealer and set up an appointment. For what ever it is worth my was the r/f sensor. Dont panic.

what was the end result of the origional post?

I changed from my Slites to my winters. Next day, all three lights came on. I tried resetting the tire preasure and DSC lights, to no avail.

ABS isnt working. Nor is DSC. Same as origional posted

Xeon, How many miles do you have on your Cooper? I would try and check the ABS sensor at each wheel. If its caked with dirt and brake debris, it will cause the ABS light to come on. If theres dirt and gunk on the sensor. You could just remove it and wipe it clean and reinstall the sensor.

if you only changed your wheels, the most likely problem is you may have snagged a wheelspeed sensor and disconnected it. recheck at each wheel and wiggle the connector. if it is fixed you only need to cycle ignition to see ABS go out.

I agree. I didn't catch the whole post. Unless changing the wheels and the lights are coincidental.
