TIMING CHAIN need to be replaced?

Hello! Had a check engine light come on and the engine ran in safe mode for a day. The next day it was fine. No odd noises, misfires, nothing out of the ordinary.

Brought it into the dealer. They say the timing chain is stretched. (62k miles, 2013 Cooper S).

fault:
002D54 Variable camshaft timing control (VANOS), exhaust, cold start not controllable
002C58 Charging pressure control, switch-off as consequence

they said the chain tensinor measures 70mm

wanted to check that all this made sense and that they’re not ripping me off. (They have always seemed shady... should have brought the car to another dealership).

they said for $2350 they will:
replace the timing chain
replace coolant hoses
do a coolant flush
rotate and balance tires and do a 4 wheel alignment
and do a fuel system cleaning (intake and induction)

is is this an ok price?

anything they should be doing/testing prior to replacing the timing chain?

Also does anyone know where I can see what is covered under the extended mini maintenance program?

thanks!

these engines, N18, are pretty solid and most issued have taken car off.

how often do you change the oil?

did you try clearing the codes and see what comes back?

$2350 is a lot of money (I can buy another cooper with this amount)

oh, welcome aboard and where are you located?

Price is a bit high, but they do stretch so if it's bad it is time to replace. Wish you could bring it to Atlanta we would do it for much less.

I just had these same two code come up on my car this morning. Car sat all night, cold start, immediately flashes half-engine light. I plugged in the code reader, and the two codes mentioned in first post showed up. I then shut the car down, and restarted. Car started and ran fine, half-engine light off for the remainder of my morning commute.

Questions:
Would you guess that the timing chain NEEDS replacing?
Or, do you think I could get away with replacing the VANOS solenoids?
What is the life span of the VANOS solenoids?

My car is a 2012 Clubman S with ~88,000 miles. It has a 1/2012 build date. Car also has a Manic Stage 2 tune installed, and is my daily driver.

Just checking in as well, my 2011 R56S N18 also exceeded the tensioner length limit. Currently in process to replace the chain and guides. I have 125k miles on it and have done oil changes every 5k since new.
