Brake/reverse lights aren't working

Hey All,
Recently my brake and reverse lights have stopped working. The top brake light works when the pedal is pushed and the tail light brake lights flash when locking the car but not when pressing the pedal. I've checked the fuses in the cabin and bulbs the all look fine. I even changed the fuses just for good measure and still no luck. Any ideas as to what the issue could be?

It is the running lights (not brakes) that flash when locking the car. The bulbs are dual filament (running+brake). Did you check both filaments inside the bulbs? Bulbs are cheap and you could simply put in new ones to eliminate them as the problem.

Are all of those lights out on both left and right sides? Other things that can go wrong are the backup light switch in the transmission (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post2709748), and for the brakes the switch at the pedal. The worse case scenario is that the body control module has gone bad.

I am quite sure the reverse light on/off does not go thru the BCM. Also brake lights and reverse lights do not work, but the 3rd brake light works give a clue. Not a problem with the brake pedal switch. OP need to provide what year and which Mini he has. My guess is pre-facelift.

My guess given very poor info provided, the two tail light assembly has grounding problem.

If he/she just identify what model, year, mileage, and a brief history; that will go a long way for others to help.
