Is it better to part out or replace the engine in a seized R53 with 130k mi.?
it's a pretty clean 2004 inside and out.

 

Typically on a major rebuild ( on any vehicle) the parts themselves get up to the value of the vehicle when it is back in service. The labor effort doesn't get paid back. If you enjoy wrenching & are going to keep the car, then rebuild makes sense. Most would implement power-add mods into this mix.

 

r53 longblocks are not very expensive, labor is if you are not doing it yourself

 

I have tools and a lift in my garage so I would be doing the labor myself.

but I see something like this pop up every now and then.
