2006 Mini Cooper problems

so i just bought a use 2006 Mini Cooper. With 110k. As I was driving after picking car up it was fine for maybe 20 miles then on the highway it starting feeling like there was a hesitation. When it would hesitatte the brake light and abs light would flicker, the rpms would bounce from 3k to 4K, also noticed speedometer would jump up and down. I stopped grabbed food went out and started it check engine light came on but the cutting out was gone. Now so you know the traction control triangle is lit up and tire pressure light, owner told me must be a bad sensor in tire cuz it’s always on. So I am driving again and 20-30miles later starts cutting out again so I pulled over shut car off started it back up and it was gone. I stopped at advance auto only thing there reader said was p1613. Any help out there plz thank you in advance.

That code is most likely a wheel speed sensor. They are blue plastic and sit in front of the front wheels and in front of the back wheels at each corner. Some will probably chime in but if the wheel speed sensors is malfunctioning the ACS may think the wheels have lost traction so the motor is shut down.

Strong word of advice. Edit you post and get your phone number off the screen. You've no idea who trolls these forums. Don't be surprised if you start getting calls from the IRS telling you the 'cops' are on their way to arrest you. (message left on my answering machine)

You really need to locate a trustworthy independent BMW/MINI shop in your area. Consult with a MINI club or other MINI people in your area for a good shop.

We don't have sensors in the tires on the 06's. The computer calculates out the tire pressure off of wheel speed sensor. If a tire is low on air it will have a smaller diameter and spin faster than the others, conversely if a tire is over pressure it will have a larger diameter and spin slower for the same distance.

I agree with Whine, most likely a wheel speed sensor.
