Bad stutter on 2006 R53 after pulley swap
it is not risk but rate
Good to hear you sorted the stutter problem.
If Way extensive experience is to be trusted, it is like saying I keep smoking as it feels so good (I know the risk). Accelerated journal bearing wear is not risk but increased rate. It is not like cancer where some people are genetically less predisposed to develop. No Mini engine is more immune to bearing wear in the absence of a good crank damper. It is called harmonic damper for very sound engineering reasons.
In the mean time I got my crank pulley swapped to a new light weight cravenspeed (I know the risk)

Totally understand all that and am aware of the issues it WILL cause over time. I did hear that with a lightweight flywheel these issues are lessened.... any truth to that? I plan on doing lightweight flywheel when I replace my clutch in the next 5-8k Miles.
When we try to boost power, other ugly things can show their heads!
Injectors come to mind (dirty/worn out or just too small) along with air breather filter (the boost will not be realized as it should, if this is deficiant), maf/map needing cleaning, good synthetic oil is a must!
I hope you get this all sorted out, so you can enjoy the good weather months ahead!
