Intermittent noise from the drivers side engine compartment when cold

So, I've noticed a clacking noise coming from the drivers side during initial acceleration and less noticeably when I let off the accelerator. This only happens when the car has sat for relatively extended period (long enough for the engine to reach ambient temps) in cooler to cold weather. The noise seems to go away once the engine and transmission have warmed to operating temperatures. There are no harsh jolts or noticeable jarring when this happens, only the noise. The car has 86,500 or so miles, mostly commuting with the occasional road trip. I initially thought it may be a CV axle, but it's not consistent enough for that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check the motor mount right underneath the ECU/Fuse box holder. you might have to remove the air duct from the pumper to the air filter housing to see the bolt. Also, check the ball joint, and other bushings on that side.
