Mounting a R53 engine on an engine stand

Hi all!

I was recently given a stock blown W11 block and head from one of my local MINI friends to take apart and see the inner workings of the MINI Engine (I am a college student majoring in Automotive Engineering, so its a learning experience!) I am currently going to take it down to a bare block and I wanted to see what the right size bolts are for mounting it to the engine stand, I know some engine stands vary but I just want a general consensus. I wanted to know the bolt sizes and where to put them for a safe mounting. Thanks!

What on earth then are you doing with an ICE? It is dead and history technology. You should be taking apart Tesla's electric motor, shorting out megawatt li-ion battery, hacking autonomous driving imagers, and most important, rendering moving lounge interior for the mobile occupants leisurely sipping coffee instead of stressed out driving.

So jokes aside, the right bolts for your engine mount. I never have the luxury of owning one, but I think you just need to determine the metric bolt diameter and thread of those that secure the clutch bell housing to the engine. You can find this information with a bit of search on the web (R53 engine to transmission bolts etc). Next is to determine the length you need which is a function of you specific stand. Last go to a good h/w store and buy 10.9 grade bolts.
