Anti-freeze leaking on R53
Anti-freeze leaking on R53
My 2006 MCS has anti-freeze dripping down middle of oil pan ,somewhere from the middle of engine block? What is the most common source on these Mini's ;thermostat gasket ,thermostat housing or water-pump ? Thanks ...
The water pump would be about dead center of the radiator. Not anything else on the front that I can think of. The oil cooler/oil filter housing in the backside and closer to the passenger wheel but there is past thread where the pipes rusted out that run towards the opposite side.
I appreciate the helpful information that way I can zero in on the leak and order a brand new pump or thermostat.Thanks...

My guess also its the water pump dead center or that flange on the front of the block?

Your going to have to clean things up and try to pinpoint where new coolant is escaping from, before you start throwing parts at the engine. There's a big difference in the scope of work required to replace a thermostat, as opposed to removing the entire front-end of the car to remove the supercharger to get the water pump and the flange behind it off.
