Bumper damage

Driving home today I hit something. At first it looked like roadkill, but just as it passed under the car (I couldn't swerve at all due to traffic) I had the impression that it was some metal part. Thing was big!

Anyways, the car actually bounced as it passed under me. I get home a few miles later and survey the damage. The black trim that runs under the grill from wheel well to wheel well has a deep gouge in the middle on the bottom and buckled on the top over the same area. The passenger side of the trim was ripped out from the side trim piece and the grill connectors are toasted. The plastic skid plate underneath has come loose on the passenger side as well.

I did some home repair to try to get things together enough so that I wouldn't feel like it would come apart the next time I drove. Contacted the insurance company and waiting for the adjuster to call, which will probably be tomorrow (Wednesday).

No idea what I'm in for as far as cost. Pissed off more than any thing. Freaking tire treads, dead animals, rocks, hub caps, bricks, car parts, and couches all over the road.

Our old Maxima got drilled in the bumper by a flying hubcap. It was on it's way down from a max height of about eye level, and had I been 1/2 second further up the road I would have taken it right in the windshield.

State Farm covered the damage as non-fault comprehensive, and there was no deductible. Hopefully you'll have similar luck at your ins co.

Be thankfull you weren't on a motorcycle when that happened.

The insurance company is covering the damages, almost with no questions asked. I do have to pay the deductible though. Estimated damage was around $640. I should know something more from the body shop today, and hopefully get T.D. back too.
