Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
All of my local parts stores have failed me, and I really want to get my R52 back on the road tomorrow (it currently rests in pieces as I replace the end links). No one stocks the bushings when I input my car in the info field.. But other cars have to use a 17mm sway bar.
Has anyone found an alternate 17mm sway bushing that works? I'm googling as we speak, but there's got to be another vehicle that uses a stock 17mm sway bar.
Thanks Way, but I need it a tad sooner. If I had the foresight, I would have bought then last week. Unfortunately, I assumed a bushing would be something I could find locally and decided to tear apart my suspension, and my wife would like to drive the car to work some time this week. It would be lovely if I could find a 17mm bushing tomorrow. Even my local dealership would have to order it (3 days minimum).
Did a quick Amazon search, Nissan Rogue, X-Trail 2007-2013 has a 17mm swaybar bushing. Might be worth a shot, no idea if it fits. VWs, Honda Fit, Camry, etc.

thanks! 96 Camry has 17mm. Surely someone local has parts for a Camry..
Can anyone confirm that I have an OEM rear sway bar from this pic? I ordered 2 bushings locally and neither fit. Advance swears its the correct one, but I'm skeptical, unless the previous owner added an aftermarket sway bar.
There are no part numbers that I can see on the bar itself.
Not sure of the size, but it looks like Alta's v1 rear sway bar before they went with 3 adjustment holes on the v2. It might also be installed upside down as the pics I've seen have the horizontal weld part of the bracket on top. I would send a pic to Alta to see. If so, they should have the bushings and install instructions for the orientation of the bar.

Upside down, lol. That’s perfectly believable, everything about the guy I bought it from was *** backwards.
I just measured, they're 22mm sway bars set at the stiffest setting.. oh yeah, and upside down which looks like it'll make it even stiffer. Cant wait to flip it over tomorrow and adjust it down to softer setting. 22mm is good for track use, right? I dont think anyone buys an R52 for track use.
I have my 22 mm 3-position set in the middle. I don't track so do not enter corners at triple digits and do not autocross. On twisties such as the TOTD car handles fine. I know a guy around my parts that does allot of tracking and autocross. He has said that the stiffer swaybar had resulted in more spinouts during autocrossing.
