Reassembling a/c; need quick advice

Am replacing the compressor. Where the hoses connect to the compressor there is on each connection a straight pin. When I removed the hoses from the old compressor the pins came out with the connector; on the new compressor the pins are preinstalled. I need to remove one set of pins, either on the compressor or on the hose connectors. Which one? and how? I'm afraid to put a set of plyers on them and hope to twist them out for fear of breaking one or both. Help!

why not remove it from the pins (studs) that came out? it is safer this way. or, you can order the nut from online or dealer.

I would remove it from the line. Us a pair of side cutters and maybe some WD40 and should come out.

Pins won't come out. Am becoming convinced that these connections are designed this way for a reason, but the remanufactured Delphi compressor that I have is OE and should fit my 2004 R53. Anyone else with thoughts? TIA.

Where are the pins? I did some work on the AC of my Brother's Dodge and hoses that went to the compressor all were formed in conjunction with clips that bolted in place. The end of the hoses had o-rings that formed the seals.

Now that I see your picture I think the Dodge had the pin on the hose connector instead of on the compressor.

Would think the pin is there for a big reason and removing it might make the connection prone to fail quicker.
