Knock Sensor
Knock Sensor
I have a 2009 Mini Cooper S and the code is showing that the knock sensor is bad. I've seen on-line that it says that you need to take the intake manifold off to get to it. I just replaced the lower O2 sensor tonight and noticed that i can see the knock sensor from underneath and even touch it. Has anyone replaced this sensor from underneath without removing the intake manifold?
The intake manifold comes off pretty easy so don't be intimidated. but if you can get it off from underneath no problem. But remember to torque the bolt for it to spec as that is important for it to read right.

Definitely easier from underneath. Just remember to disconnect the battery first as you'll be turning a ratchet very close to the positive lead to the starter. Big sparks... bad.
