Starter differences

I have a 2009 Cooper S with a 6 speed manual. The battery is charged (tried jumping it too), the connections are all clean, all the lights are bright, and the small white wire going to the starter gets power when I press the starter button, but the starter doesn't make a sound. I push started the car and it runs fine.

A new Bosch starter is over $400 here in Canada, but I've found a few listings for used OEM ones on Ebay for around $100 but none of them are from a Cooper S 6 speed. Can I use a starter from any 2007-2015?

The Bosch website shows the same SR0837X part number for a bunch of different Minis from 2007-2015 so doesn't that mean I can use an OEM one from those cars? There's no mention of auto or manual in the listings I've seen either.

Take a look at all the starters using the Real OEM illustrated parts list --- http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select Just "bingo" the variables you're interested in --- year, model, engine type, etc. Part numbers that are different may or may not work for you, but at least you can narrow down your search for used starters.
