Cv joint too short 2002 Mini Cooper s 6 speed

hi I recently had to replace my cv joint on the passenger side, and the side of the axle with the bearing mount on it, that couples with the transmission is a half inch too short, I realized after driving with t and leaked a bunch of gear oil, so I returned it and got a new one that was a higher end model, and have the same issue, does anyone know why this could be? I’ve been without my car for 2 weeks now, any help would be much appreciated thank you!

Have you checked that you have the correct part number and not the CV axle for the Automatic Transmission?

Hey thanks for the quick reply, how would I check the part number?? And of my knowledge it should be a manual axle, that’s what I told them at the store

This is a very common issue with aftermarket axles. No part numbers on it to identify either.
Get a factory MINI axle and your problems will go away.

Did you pry on the carrier bearing to remove it? It's possible the bearing is just a little out of place.

cry over spilled milk

It may be too late for you. With critical mechanical parts like the axles, you should always put the original side by side of the replacement and check carefully before installing. Most of these parts has no part number on them. Even if they did the number is subject to change and cross-reference. Hope you still have the original axles that you can check with.
