Engine compartment drains

Are there drains for the low areas by the windshield scuttle, left and right side? I saw some water sitting on the areas down there well below the brake resevoir after some rain, and over on the left side in the same area. Doesnt seem right that water should sit there.. are there maybe drains clogged or, is this normal.

There are drainage at the bottom. After a wash I also can see some water down that does not totally drain out. If you have excessive of water they can be clogged. The 05 and later plastic covers do a good job keeping out leaves and pine needles.

I looked but can never see them. I just know they have to be on the very bottom but obscured by the ABS and the brake booster.

I took some pics of the area. You

can see the dark areas at the bottom where water sits. I see the larger drain to the side of the passenger area.. but im talking about that little platform next to it.

I think the water drains between the gaps of he leading plastic wall on both cowls. Both are just held in by screws or plastic rivets.

I dont quite follow where you mean. Somehow water is getting into that area on my mini.. not sure how. The seal outside appears to be good.

One of many purpose of the cowls are to supply cabin air. Drop the bonnet and look at the two plastic grills by the bloody windscreen. The frequent misunderstood function is for home mechanics to store greasy rags and a spare litre of engine oil.

Seriously I couldn't resist making fun of you.

The black plastic grill by the wiper arm is where all the water gets in.

Wiseguy!

OK, so that seems like a shitty design. I still dont know why water sits there after it rains. Is this normal or do I have a blocked drain? Thats all I really want to know. I dont want water egress into the cabin from standing water. I see some grommets about.

I dont mind taking the parts apart to clear a drain, but I just want to know if one is there before I go digging.
