Loose unknown hose in engine comparment.

So just filling the wiper fluid and noticed this little doo-dad unconnected to anything. Anyone know what it is? And anything to be concerned about? Where to reconnect? I have a 2006 base MINI, hose is near battery compartment.

It looks like the breather / vent hose for the battery. If you have the correct battery, there is a matching connection on it.
