Air Conditioner not blowing air at all

2004 Mini Cooper S with Auto AC

I guess I should start this off with the full story of what has been happening with my AC to see if it may help diagnose the problem....

A couple years ago, I did have to replace my AC compressor because it ended up dying on me. Replaced it, and had no problems since then.

Fast forward to a couple months ago, I turn on my car, (usually I always have the AC on in the summer) and the digital display that usually displays the temperature, wouldn't turn on. I tried turning the ac off and on and it wouldn't do anything. So I turn my car off, and turn it back on, then it worked fine. This has happened a couple more times since then as well.

Now on to the REAL problem...

The AC would stop blowing air all together just randomly as I'm driving the car, or as soon as I turned the car on. That being said, when I would drive over a fairly decent bump, most of the time it would cut back on. Now, it started to not come on every time I started the car, and it won't come back on when I go over decent size bumps anymore either.

I am assuming maybe blower motor? Fan assembly? Any opinions will help before I start throwing parts at it!

Thanks!

You'll need to do some diagnostic, could be anything from the BCM to HVAC controls, blower motor, blower motor resistor.

But usually with blower motor problems you give the area of the motor a hit and the motor begins working again that usually indicates a failing motor; which would explain why it comes back to life over a large bump.

Brace yourself, blower motors in the first gen cars are a riot!
