Strange Driver's Window Problem

A while back the cable in my driver's door window regulator broke so I installed a new regulator and motor. Everything works perfectly EXCEPT if I have the window fully down and open/close the door, the window gets jammed down and won't go up. I can hear the motor cycling as it tries to move the window but it won't budge. If I remove the upper regulator bolt nearest the door lock and hit the window switch, there is a pop and the window works fine again. Replace the bolt and all is OK, until I forget and open the door with the window down! I've spend literally hours with a light and mirror trying to find something inside the door that could cause this problem but have come up dry.

I'm hoping someone else has experienced this problem and can share their solution. I'm a mechanic and do all my own work and this thing is bugging the hell out of me. It seems to be triggered by the closing of the door since the window will work fine if the door is opened but not shut yet.

Same time thing happens to mine! I haven't had time to fix the issue permanently, but I've found a little bit of extra care to press up right before the window goes down all the way keeps it from jamming every time(leaving just a sliver of the window poking up).

Also, your misalignment might be different from mine, but I've found that undoing the rear gear-shaped bolt and manually pulling the window up out of the jam, then hitting the window up switch to raise the mechanism, and reinstalling the gear-shaped bolt is an easy 5-minute side-of-the-road fix.

Thinking about ziptying at the minimum non-jamming position to keep the regulator from over lowering the window next time it happens.

Let me know if you figure out a fix! Did you buy oem? (I bought the cheapest one on rockauto)

Same for me: if I raise the window just a 1/4" after it's lowered, it never jams. I'm using genuine Mini parts in my regulator assembly. I've looked everywhere for something causing the problem and can't see anything. Nothing is interfering with the top edge of the window when it's all the way down and I can't see a problem inside either. Just a really strange problem that only occurs when shutting the door with the window all the way down.

I've learned to live with it but every now and then something happens and I get caught again! Here's hoping someone else has found the cause of this problem.
