R56 Headlights??

I currently have the stock r56 Mini Cooper S headlights and was wondering if these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N9SQGVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-2UlzbMHM7X7Y were any good? Or if anybody has any suggestions on other headlights.

ECStuning sells reputable brands, I'd trust them more than Amazon for things like this.

https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2013-...ng/Headlights/

The ones you linked from Amazon look to be the Depo headlights on ECS, Depo is a well known brand.

+1 ^^ Thanks for the mentions. I can tell you the ins and outs on these things where Amazon it's the wild west and good luck finding someone with MINI knowledge.

HMINI07HL is the blackout ones: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-depo-par...ni07hl-oeb~hl/

I have the Spyder F56+ styled ones and really like them but I had a Xenon => Xenon switch out. The Helix /Depo ones are good if you like a more OEM look. But only one style ( spyder ) has a cross over to xenon lights, all the others are Halogen => Halogen setups unless you mod them.

I have the same headlights as the mini on the top picture and was wondering if the headlights in the bottom picture (from your website) would be a direct install without having to do anything fancy.

Yep, direct install. You can pick up Ziza H7 bulb if you want a little better color. Stock is the normal H7 bulb that's clear. When you install them make note of the alignment screws and holes, take a picture with your phone.Make sure before you take the old ones old get on a flat surface and make note of the factory alignment and light pattern. Then when you install, you can get them close to the alignment. Then on that same level surface, align them to the hood gap , while getting them close to the original beam pattern. They will have a sharp cut off but you should be able to get them close.

I purchased the halogen Spyders from ECS. Bought them when the first came out but didn't install them until February of this year. My drivers side lasted about 3 months before it went out. So I took them out and put my originals back in. Called Spyder and they were no help. Same with ECS. So I took them to an appliance repair shop recommend by a co-worker. Spyder wanted me to send them into them in the original packaging which I didn't save. So, they have the lights (sent in both so they could see how it should work) for about a week and they call me telling they are fixed. "They" are fixed? So he tells me the one not working had a diode that need to be replaced - it was blown. The other one, the working one had a diode that was on its way out, so he replaced it too. Charged me $30. That's probably what it would have cost me in postage. They work great now I just want to convert them to HID as their output is actually worse than the OEM halogens.

Sorry to hear that BMC Kid, PM me if you ever have an issue and I can see what went on. I am still on my original set with no issues.

What exactly did you mean here? I just got a set of the standard projector lights in mention above and was looking around on alignment info. Thanks.

Just saw this, You are making marks of the height of the original beam vs the new one.

ECSTuning, can you describe a little the motorized levelling feature that the Helix/DEPO say that they have? I haven't been able to find anywhere that actually talked about this feature in detail. How does it work, and do you have to have levelling sensors installed in the car? Does it just sound like more complex of a system than it really is?

Thanks

Its just an internal leveler. like the factory one but works of the level with a little motor on the inside. Does not read off the ones on suspension arms like the factory. Once you set the level, it pivots up and down based off action.

You will need the H7 Sylvania Silverstar. The old halogen headlights have the H13 for the R55-R61.

https://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2005-...g/Headlights/3

Or you could go to the H7 Morimoto Xenon kit.

Nope. We had some people do this already on the gen 1 and gen 2 depo/helix lights.

I have a question? I have a 2008 R56 that came with halogen headlights and recently purchased HID headlights but are not working with my car. So I upgraded the foot well module from FRM2 to FRM3. Do you think having the FRM3 coded will help me?

Hello,

It will still need to be coded for HID xenon. The Footwell modules are just the revisions and newest footwell possibly could just works with the newer factory retro fit 9/2009+. But you swapped over to the factory HIDs correct?

Just came across this, did you get the HID ones to work with your new FRM and coding?

Refresh my memory please:

Are these straight replacement or does it require dealer programming and additional wiring?
Do these provide significant improvements for night time driving?
Oh, and it states Auto leveling. Does this feature require any thing special?
