Bought a 2011 JCW with problems! Need a little advice

Hi Guys, bought a 2011 JCW R56 as it was a really really good deal I couldn't not act upon. That being said, the car has issues... as in codes upon codes. I am a fabricator for my line of work, so I am looking to fix everything myself.

I have codes -
P15DF
P0087

and 300 thru 304 (misfires)

I am pretty sure the car needs the HPFP, as it stumbles on starting and seems to run as if it is starving for fuel.

The one code I am not sure what it is -

P1869 ... Air bag code... anyone ever deal with this one? Fix?

Just want some input, as I searched I couldn't really find anything.

Thanks in advance!!!

I found this with a quick and dirty google search:
http://p1869.engine-trouble-code.com/

That code could also be a result of the HPFP, but could also relate to a bad MAP sensor.

If it were me, I would change out the HPFP and clear the codes. Then, run the car to see if any of the other ones show up, and go from there.

If you think it may need an HPFP, call a dealer with your VIN and find out if it falls under the extended warranty for those.

I would throw a set of plugs in it. They are supposed to be changed every 30k miles on a JCW. That way you have an excuse to look at the coils at the same time. Even if the codes are hpfp, it won't hurt.

The 2011 JCW still has the N14 engine so check the intake valves for carbon build up and perform a walnut blasting if necessary. This can easily cause misfire codes.

I think, mid way through 2011 prod year they stopped using the N14.

Check production date to see what engine your MINI has with reference to carbon buildup. In the updated N18 engine that is about as rare as a unicorn due to re-routed hoses and valve cover update.

No, it wasn't until 2013 did the JCW start to use the N18.
